Home Decor has opened on the ground floor of the shopping centre next to Boots, occupying the former Bodycare unit.

The company already operates 13 stores across London, but manager Abraham said the Ipswich branch represents a significant milestone as the business begins expanding into other parts of the country.

“We have 13 different shops in London, but this is the first one we have outside of London,” he said. “It’s our first trial outside London.”

Abraham said Ipswich was selected after the company identified an opportunity in the East of England.

He explained that the business has extensive knowledge of furniture retailers across the UK and already has links with locations including Enfield, Romford, Croydon and Ashford.

However, he said the company realised it did not have a presence in the East of England, making Ipswich an attractive location for its first move beyond the capital.

As part of the opening, Home Decor is offering free delivery to customers living in the IP1, IP2, IP3 and IP4 postcode areas.

The retailer is also providing finance options through external lenders, allowing eligible customers to spread the cost of purchases. Depending on approval and credit history, repayment plans can extend to as long as 11 months.

The new shop brings another retailer into Sailmakers Shopping Centre and fills the unit previously occupied by Bodycare.

Abraham said the Ipswich opening will act as a test for the company’s expansion plans outside London, with the business hoping to build on its success in the capital by reaching customers in new parts of the country.
