Everyone on the home decor side of the internet will tell you the key to an interesting space that feels uniquely your own is the details. Yes, furniture and decor can be expensive, and there are tons of challenges — even more so for renters — but with a little creativity and some smart shopping, the right home decor can go a long way in elevating your space while staying within your budget.
That’s why I consulted professional interior designers, as well as a handful of the internet’s most influential home content creators, to find out which Amazon home decor pieces they actually recommend. Whether you’re hoping to make your bedroom feel like a relaxing oasis or you’re looking for ways to add whimsy to your living room, these expert-recommended products will inspire you in no time.
“A solid marble tray is one of the easiest ways to make a bathroom vanity, kitchen counter or coffee table look instantly more expensive,” Mina Lisanin, founder and principal designer at ML Interiors NYC, said. “This piece is crafted from 100% natural marble, meaning each tray has its own unique, beautiful veining.” She loves the scalloped edges, which add a soft and highly luxurious touch that, as she explained, is typically only seen in high-end boutique home decor stores.
Hannah Klingenstein, principal designer at Studio June, predicts animal print to be one of the big design trends of the year. “It has such a big presence in interiors and fashion right now,” she said. “This Scalamandré-style velvet pillow instantly brings that iconic, slightly playful pattern into a room.” It’s the kind of accent piece she recommends to clients who are looking for a bit of personality and depth, without committing to something bold on a larger scale.
One of the easiest ways to add texture (and extra organization) to your home is with a basket. “I love these handmade nesting baskets, which come in two different sizes and in two color options,” Kurtyka said. “The variation in the color of the weave makes them look pricey.” Whether you add them to your living room or your bedroom, these baskets also serve as storage for extra blankets and throw pillows.
“Mirrors are one of the best ways to make a space feel larger and more expensive,” Lisanin said, “and this asymmetrical, organic shape is incredibly on-trend right now.” The brushed gold stainless steel frame gives it a heavy, substantial quality that feels like a custom designer piece or a high-end antique find, but it also comes in chrome, brushed nickel and matte black. “It acts as functional wall art,” Lisanin said, “adding a touch of sophisticated, modern elegance to a bathroom vanity, entryway or bedroom.”
“I love how these taper holders bring a sense of patina and quiet character to a space,” Klingenstein said. “They’re an easy layer to add warmth and height to a table or console, and candles always create that softly lit, lived-in atmosphere.” For the same cozy vibes, you could even place flameless taper candles in these holders.
“When I tell you I love these frames, I’m not lying,” said Kurtyka, who has six of them hanging in her living room with black-and-white photos of her family. “They look expensive, are good quality and didn’t arrive damaged.” Her pro tip? “Order custom mats for the frames in your home and don’t hesitate to add a pop of color.”
“If you’re looking for an inexpensive way to make an average piece of furniture look luxe, add different knobs and pulls,” said Kurtyka, who does this all the time herself. “These knobs — especially the antique white and teal colorways — look expensive,” she said. This is also a great way to make otherwise generic pieces of furniture, like an entry console or dresser, feel more unique to you and your personal style.
Novak is a fan of the design details on this console table, which make it look truly high-end despite its $200 price point. “The fluted wood, subtle gold accents and [faux] marble surface make it special,” she said, “offering a refined look at an accessible price point.” You can use it as a media stand, entryway table or as a divider to create separation between areas.
Want to make your dining room feel more inviting? These expert-recommended chairs will bring warmth and sophistication to your space without costing an arm and a leg. “These dining chairs perfectly capture the relaxed, organic modern aesthetic that is so popular right now,” Lisanin said. “The combination of the natural wood frame with the curved, slatted backrest and the breathable linen upholstered seat gives them a custom, handcrafted look.”
“These stone trays look super high-end and are the perfect versatile decor piece for any room,” Scheppers said. “Marble and travertine items can be expensive, so this price is a steal for the quality,” he said. The tray is perfect for holding everything from keys to remotes to jewelry and more — the list goes on!
Coffee-table books are great because they double as decor. If you’re into design, start with this one that Klingenstein recommends. “This coffee-table book is not only beautiful but it’s also one of my favorite design books to flip through for inspiration,” she said. “It’s full of layered interiors that feel both aspirational and livable, making it a constant source of ideas.”
Lisanin said this chic nightlight packs a major design punch, so it’s perfect for adding a bit of luxury to your nightstand or a small desk. “The base is crafted from premium natural marble, meaning every single lamp has its own unique veining and pattern,” she said. She also pointed out the fact that it’s dimmable by touch, so you can choose from three brightness levels.
Interior designers clearly love decorating with trays. After all, there are so many different styles and materials to experiment with! Kligenstein recommends this rattan tray, which she said “adds an effortless, organic texture that instantly softens a space and makes everything on top of it feel more intentional and styled.” She recommends placing it on a coffee table or shelf to add “warmth and a sense of ease while subtly tying everything together.”
If you’ve ever tried shopping for art to display in your home, then you’ve probably experienced sticker shock when you look at the price. “Artwork can often be a significant investment, but this piece delivers strong visual impact at a more approachable price,” Novak said. “Its generous size and wood frame contribute to a sophisticated, gallery-like feel.”
“I’ve always looked for ways to elevate everything in my house,” interior and home content creator Maddie Andres said. “So when I saw these shot glasses made of green onyx marble, I knew I had to have them. Because the stone is natural, each piece is one-of-a-kind and of extremely excellent quality.” They also come in a few other colors, including red and white.
Candle warmers are very trendy these days, but they’re actually pretty practical. They help your candles last longer, and they don’t require an open flame. CNN Underscored’s home and gifts editor Amina Lake Patel recommends this one that she’s been using for over two years. “I love that it has a built-in timer and adjustable brightness so I can control how fast the candle melts,” she said.
Kimberly Anne Tish, a fashion and lifestyle content creator, called this magazine rack an “aesthetic yet functional” piece of decor. “I would recommend it for smaller spaces, maximizing vertical storage,” she said. “My favorite color options are clear, offering a clean minimalist vibe, and orange, which gives off a colorful midcentury modern industrial space.”
“There’s no better deal on the internet than these blackout velvet curtains,” New England-based home and crafting content creator Marissa Zingg said. “With so many earthy, rich colors to choose from,” she said, “they translate effortlessly to any room.”
Interior decorator Marco Zamora recommends a chic ceramic trinket dish as a perfect accent for any console table. This one is nearly identical to the tray Zamora originally recommended (which is no longer available), and it comes in seven different colors.
“This mirror is super heavy and really great quality,” Katie Falbo, interior decorator and the other half of the Highboy LA team, said. “We’ve used it in one of our client’s homes and would definitely purchase it again to use in our own home. It’s full-length, and the fabric on the tufted trim is soft and looks so nice.”
“Swapping out pillow covers is one of my favorite ways to refresh my home with the changing of the seasons,” home decor content creator Chelsea Zeferina said, “butI’m always shocked by how expensive they can be. These scalloped pillows look like they’re designer but at a fraction of a cost.” Another option we love? These velvet pillow covers that Danielson owns.
“I wanted to invest in a fancy silverware set for my home, but I couldn’t stomach spending over $200 on forks and spoons,” Zeferina said. “A few months ago I opted for this set instead and have been so impressed with the overall look and durability.” Interior designer Maitri Mody is also a fan and has been using this set in the gingham print option for years. “They always get compliments from guests as well as my followers on social media,” she said.
Two experts recommend a similar realistic-looking olive tree from this brand, which is no longer in stock. But this one comes with a planter, so it might even be better. “It seems so lifelike because the leaves and branches are the ideal shade of muted green rather than a bright green,” Andres said.
Interior designer and home and lifestyle content creator Amber Guyton recommends artificial olive trees too. “Faux trees are a great accessory for any space, especially a corner in a living room,” she said. “Stick one of these in a beautiful planter, and it will completely elevate the room.”
Interior decorator Loi Kae Doan recommends this practical and budget-friendly coat rack. “Positioned in your entranceway, it ensures your outerwear stays organized and easily accessible,” he said, “adding both functionality and style to your space.”
Here’s another recommendation for affordable art for your walls. Sage Phillips, a home influencer and content creator, loves how these framed pieces of art “add a dash of elegance and a hint of vintage charm” to any space. “Whether you love scenic landscapes, floral designs or classic vintage looks, there’s something to match everyone’s taste,” she said.
“I will never not love a good vase, and this is one of the best,” home stylist and content creator Lowe Saddler said. “It elevates any simple bouquet of flowers perfectly.” She added that it’s also a great option for gifting, given that “it works with so many different decor styles.”
Mody loves the quality and design of this cup and saucer set. “I’ve been using it for the past two to three years, and it looks so expensive and stylish,” she said. “I love having it on my coffee bar or even displaying it on a stack of books on a shelf.”
“This vase is one of my best Amazon purchases,” Andres said. “I tend to gravitate more towards moody decor, and this vase would be perfect for those who love dark but organic pieces. It’s really excellent quality, has just the right amount of texture and looks incredibly expensive.”
“This is a great example of a piece that looks way more expensive than it is,” Kirkpatrick said. “Similar coffee tables from other retailers cost over $1,000.” She added that “the design of this coffee table is a great blend of organic and modern, making it the perfect statement piece for your living room.”
“There’s nothing like a statement tea kettle for your stovetop,” Zeferina said. “This kettle is just the right size for one or two cups of tea and has an adjustable handle that makes it easy to add water. No one will ever believe you bought this on Amazon!”
Phillips recommends this rechargeable picture light as the perfect way to add that luxury feel to your decor without having to spend a lot. “It has a classy gold finish and features like adjustable brightness and an auto-off timer,” she said, “making it super convenient to highlight your favorite art or family photos.”
“I never thought I could love a blanket so much,” Zeferina said. “It’s so soft and slightly weighted, it really feels much more expensive than it is. Every night, I look forward to cuddling up with it when I watch TV.”
“I’ve been a huge fan of the designer Anya Hindmarch for years and love her designs with googly eyes,” Mody said. “These jars look very designer-chic and way more expensive than they actually are. I have used them as a set on my coffee station, to hold coffee beans, grounds and sugar.”
Zamora said this book by Kelly Wearstler is one of his favorite coffee-table books. “The book is easy to style, and the pages are filled with beautiful images and endless design inspiration.”
“Everyone wants tiled checkerboard marble floors, but the price isn’t always accessible,” content creator and interior stylist Imani Keal said, “especially when you’re a renter like me.” She opts for these peel-and-stick floor tiles, which were used in a recent kitchen makeover to get that luxe marble look. “I have a small kitchen, so I was able to do this DIY for under $150, and it took four hours,” she said. “If I would have used real tiles, the price would have been closer to $1,000 and taken way longer.”
Katelyn Sailor, home influencer and content creator, said these faux tulips are one of her favorite affordable finds. “They are so realistic looking,” she said, “and inexpensive enough to have multiple colors to switch out.”
“Finding curtains that look good without being too pricey can be tricky,” Saddler said. “Usually, it’s the material that gives them away, but these are some of the best.” Even after purchasing more expensive real linen options, she comes back to this pair: “They also filter light so beautifully.”
When shopping for home decor on Amazon, our experts said you need a plan. “Go in knowing your keywords and have a clear sense of what you’re looking for so it’s easy to filter through the noise,” Klingenstein said. “The more specific you can be, the easier it will be to find those pieces.” Lisanin agreed, adding that using specific terms in your search, like “sculptural,” “linen blend,” “matte ceramic” or “antique brass” will yield far more curated, high-end looking results than simply searching for “vase” or “lamp.”
Then you’ll want to pay close attention to both the reviews and who (or where) you’re actually purchasing the product from. “Other consumers will tell you if the item is as described or pictured, arrives damaged or in perfect condition,” Kurtyka said. And be sure to pay close attention to reviews with photos or videos. “Seeing the item styled in a real home environment with natural lighting gives you a much better sense of its true scale, color and finish than the heavily edited product listing photos,” Lisanin said.
Novak recommends checking seller and brand ratings too, as well as comparing sellers. “A reputable seller is more likely to offer consistent quality, reliable customer service and a fair return policy,” she said. “And if an item isn’t sold directly by the manufacturer, reviewing multiple sellers can help you find the best price and fastest delivery option.”
“I generally advise caution when purchasing large, primary upholstery pieces like main living room sofas or everyday mattresses on Amazon,” Lisanin said. Unless you’re purchasing from a reputable brand’s official storefront, it can be challenging to accurately gauge a piece of furniture’s comfort, fabric quality and long-term durability. In addition, the return process for these types of oversized items can be cumbersome. “It’s usually better to invest in these foundational pieces after shopping in person or from specialized furniture retailers where you can test them out,” she said.
In a similar vein, Kurtyka recommends avoiding large pieces of furniture that can be hard for a single person to deliver, since they’re very heavy and could damage easily.
Kurtyka recommends Amazon for pieces that will help elevate your overall design style. “Whether it’s a neutral throw blanket or funky rug, make sure the pieces don’t make or break for your space,” she said. “If you order something and you don’t like it, you don’t want your entire room design scheme to shift.”
Klingenstein added that Amazon is a helpful place to shop for the finishing layers of your home. “Think trays, pillows, candlesticks and other subtle accents that add texture and warmth to your space,” she said.
Similarly, Lisanin said Amazon is a gold mine for foundational accent pieces and lighting — think decorative mirrors, sculptural vases and throw pillow covers. “It’s also my go-to source for ambient lighting solutions, like cordless table lamps, picture lights and candle warmers,” she said. In addition to decor, Novak likes shopping on Amazon for accent pieces like stone dishes and coffee-table books — both great ways to introduce visual interest without a large investment.
“These are the types of items where you can easily find designer lookalikes that offer incredible style and visual impact for a fraction of the cost of traditional luxury retailers,” Lisanin said.
